How to automatically clip all your Kroger digital coupons

Kroger’s way to load a digital coupon is to press the “Load to Card” button on each coupon. That’s fine for a few, but Kroger’s coupon page can have a long list. This guide shows how to load all of them in one go with OttoClipper, a Chrome extension, and the rules Kroger still applies to every coupon on your card.

It works the same way at Kroger’s sister stores, listed further down. For the general idea, see what automatic coupon clipping is (and what it can’t do).

What you need

  • A Kroger digital account with your Shopper’s Card on it. Kroger says you start by creating an account, or using its app, and adding your Shopper’s Card to the account. Coupons load to that card.
  • Chrome on a computer or a Chromebook. OttoClipper is a Chrome extension. It doesn’t work on phones, because Chrome on a phone doesn’t run extensions, and it doesn’t work inside the Kroger app.
  • OttoClipper. It has a free plan: your first store run needs no account, and after that a free account clips 4 stores a day.

Step by step

  1. Add OttoClipper to Chrome.
  2. Sign in at kroger.com in Chrome, the way you normally would. We never see your store passwords. You sign in on the store’s own site, like always.
  3. Start a run. Click the OttoClipper icon in Chrome’s toolbar and choose Kroger.
  4. OttoClipper loads the coupons. It opens Kroger’s coupon page in a Chrome tab and loads every coupon that can still go on your card, using the sign-in that’s already in your browser. On Kroger it works through the same requests Kroger’s own coupon page makes, instead of pressing each button on screen, and it counts a coupon only when Kroger confirms it.
  5. Read the result. OttoClipper tells you how many coupons it loaded. If it stopped early, it says why: your card is full, you’re not signed in, or Kroger asked it to slow down, in which case it tells you how many are left and to try again in a few minutes.

If kroger.com itself keeps asking you to sign in when you load a coupon, Kroger’s help page says to check that your Shopper’s Card number is listed in your account profile.

Kroger’s rules still apply

OttoClipper only does the loading. Everything else is up to Kroger, and these are its rules, from Kroger’s own help pages:

  • A card limit. Kroger limits how many digital coupons your household can load at once. If your card fills up, OttoClipper tells you.
  • One load per household. Kroger says most offers can only be loaded one time per household.
  • Dates. Start and end dates vary by offer, and each coupon shows its expiration date below the offer details. An expired coupon moves to Expired Coupons and is no longer active on your card.
  • Coupons and Cash Back. Digital Coupons and Cash Back Offers can’t be combined, and are limited to one per item.
  • Ready right away. Kroger says coupons are available as soon as you load them to your card.
  • Any store in the family. Kroger says your digital coupons can be used at any Kroger family of stores, as long as the product is in stock.

Using the coupons at checkout

Kroger says to buy the qualifying items in store or online. In store, scan your Shopper’s Card or enter your Alt ID at the register. The discount comes off automatically and shows on your receipt under the item, marked “ecpn”. OttoClipper has nothing to do with this part: it never touches checkout.

When your card is full

The card limit is the reason a regular Kroger shopper is most likely to see a run stop early. When Kroger says the card is full, OttoClipper stops and tells you, and the rest stay on Kroger’s coupon page. To make room:

  • Shop. Redeemed coupons stop counting toward Kroger’s limit, and so do expired ones.
  • Remove coupons you won’t use. Kroger says most coupons can be removed from your card: open the My Coupons tab and select “Remove from Card”. A few can’t be removed, for example ones loaded through an email or targeted promotion (they say “Special Offer Type”) or loaded by someone else in your household.
  • Then run Kroger again. It loads what fits.

Kroger’s sister stores

OttoClipper clips these the same way, on each store’s own website: Baker’s, City Market, Dillons, Food 4 Less, FoodsCo, Fred Meyer, Fry’s Food, Gerbes, Harris Teeter, Jay C Food Stores, King Soopers, Mariano’s, Metro Market, Pay Less, Pick ’n Save, QFC, Ralphs and Smith’s. Sign in on that store’s site and choose it in OttoClipper.

Each of these stores has its own coupon and cash-back help pages, and they give the same rules as Kroger’s.

When to run it

Kroger doesn’t name a day for new coupons: start and end dates vary by offer. Its new weekly ad is available at midnight ET on Wednesday, or Thursday in some areas. A run once a week, after the new ad is out, is a simple habit, and a run after a big shop uses the room your redeemed coupons freed up.

You start each run. OttoClipper doesn’t clip in the background on a schedule. For other stores’ timing, see when each store’s digital coupons and weekly ad refresh.

Where OttoClipper fits

Pressing “Load to Card” on every coupon is the slow part. OttoClipper is a Chrome extension, with a free plan, that presses those buttons for you on the store’s own website, at 100+ stores. We never see your store passwords. You sign in on the store’s own site, like always. It doesn’t change Kroger’s rules or apply coupons at checkout, and it doesn’t add affiliate links. The Kroger store page has Kroger’s rules with a link to each source.

FAQ

Can I clip all my Kroger digital coupons at once?

Kroger’s own way is the Load to Card button on each coupon. OttoClipper, a Chrome extension, loads every coupon that can still go on your card in one run, on kroger.com, using the sign-in already in your browser.

How many digital coupons can I have on my Kroger card?

Kroger limits how many digital coupons your household can load at once. If your card fills up, OttoClipper tells you.

Why did OttoClipper stop before loading everything?

Almost always because your card is full. Shop, let old coupons expire, or remove coupons you won’t use under My Coupons on kroger.com, then run Kroger again.

Does it work in the Kroger app or on my phone?

No. OttoClipper works in Chrome on a computer or a Chromebook. The coupons it loads go on your Shopper’s Card, the same card the Kroger app loads coupons to, so you shop and check out as usual.

Does it work at Ralphs, Fred Meyer, King Soopers and the other Kroger stores?

Yes. OttoClipper supports Kroger and 18 sister stores, and each store’s own help pages give the same coupon rules as Kroger’s.

Does OttoClipper see my Kroger password?

We never see your store passwords. You sign in on the store’s own site, like always.
