Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

OttoClipper ("we", "our", or "us") makes a browser extension that clips digital coupons to your store loyalty accounts, and the website at ottoclipper.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have.

Clipping happens in your own browser, on each store's website, using the store login you already have. We never receive your store login.

2. Information We Collect

Account information

You sign in with an email address and password. We store:

• Your email address and display name (if you provide one)
• When you created your account and last signed in, and which version of our terms you accepted
• Whether you opted in to our email newsletter
• Your plan (Free or Pro), referral code and referral bonuses

Your password is handled by Firebase Authentication; we never see it.

Clipping activity

To enforce plan limits and show your stats, we record:

• Which stores you clip at, and when
• How many coupons were clipped in each run (totals by store, week and month)
• Whether a run finished or failed, how long it took, and any error message
• Your extension version
• Your clipping streaks and achievement badges

Usage analytics

• Extension: the extension popup sends usage events to PostHog, such as opening the popup, starting or finishing a clip (with the store name, the number of coupons, how long it took, and whether it succeeded, found nothing, or stopped because you were signed out of the store), and viewing stats. Events start under a random ID; after you sign in they are linked to your OttoClipper account ID (not your email).
• Website: ottoclipper.com uses Google Analytics and Firebase Analytics to understand visits and page performance, and Sentry to report errors. Sentry may record a sample of website sessions with all text and form inputs masked and images blocked.

Payments and support

• Pro subscriptions are paid through Stripe. Stripe collects your card details; we keep only your Stripe customer and subscription IDs and your subscription status.
• If you report a problem or send feedback, we keep what you write, the store it's about, and your account email so we can reply.
• If you subscribe to our deals newsletter on the website, the email address you enter goes to our newsletter provider, Kit.

Store logos

Store logos are loaded from outside services rather than shipped with the site. The website loads them from Logo.dev, and falls back to Google’s favicon service when Logo.dev has no logo for a store. The extension popup uses Google’s favicon service only. (Extensions before 1.0.5 also tried Clearbit’s logo service, which has since shut down.) Those services receive the store’s website address and your IP address. They are not told who you are, and no account or clipping data is sent to them. We plan to ship the logos with the site and extension so these requests stop.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Run the extension and your account
• Enforce plan limits (for example, 2 stores per day on the Free plan)
• Show your coupon totals, streaks and badges
• Process subscriptions and referral bonuses
• Send account emails, and the deals newsletter if you subscribed
• Find and fix problems, and improve the extension
• Answer support requests

We do not show ads, and we do not sell your personal information.

4. Service Providers

These companies process data on our behalf to run OttoClipper:

• Google Firebase — sign-in, database and server functions
• Stripe — subscription payments
• PostHog — extension usage analytics
• Google Analytics — website analytics
• Logo.dev — store logos on the website
• Google favicon service — store logos in the extension popup, and as the website’s fallback
• Sentry — error reporting
• SendGrid (Twilio) — account emails
• Kit — deals newsletter
• Cloudflare — website hosting and security

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your account data is stored in Google Firebase, encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Access to it is limited by our database security rules.

6. Your Choices and Rights

• Delete your account: sign in at ottoclipper.com/account, choose Delete Account and type DELETE to confirm. This cancels any Pro subscription and deletes your account, clipping stats, referral records, reports and feedback from our database. Then remove the extension from Chrome.
• Access or correct your data: email us and we'll respond.
• Newsletter: unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of any newsletter email.
• Analytics: to ask us to delete analytics events linked to your account, email us.

7. Cookies and Local Storage

Our website uses cookies to keep you signed in and for Google Analytics. We do not use advertising cookies. The extension keeps your settings, sign-in state and the store list in your browser's local storage.

8. Third-Party Links

Our website and extension link to store websites and, on our deals site, to affiliate partners. Their own privacy policies apply there.

9. Children's Privacy

OttoClipper is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if we learn we have, we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. We'll change the date at the top, and tell you in the extension or by email about significant changes.
